What to consider when editing videos for Video Business Cards
Video Business Cards are the best introduction for entrepreneurs, businessmen, and businesswomen. This top-end business card, thanks to an integrated screen and a speaker, plays video, taking introductions to a whole new level. Whether shared by hand or mailed in an envelope, Video Business Cards are an impressive way to establish a connection.
When our clients order their Video Business Cards, they sometimes send a business introduction video, perhaps pulled off their official website. We discourage this, as the format, size, and use are far different.
The Video Business Card screen size is 2.4″ diagonally, with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and a screen dimension of 1.89″ x 1.45″ ( 48 x 37 mm). Content for such a small screen must be carefully planned to ensure that the main subject is legible even on such a small screen. For example, a person talking in front of a camera should be filmed in a close-up shot, rather than a medium shot (waist up) or medium wide shot (knees up). Any product or object should also be filmed up close so any detail is clearly visible.
It is a good idea to add text to your promotional video, and video for our Video Business Cards is no different. Keep in mind, though, that your text should be large, perhaps a couple of words at a time. Something that is readable on a widescreen TV or a computer monitor will simply not translate into such a small display.
Video Business Cards have a 4:3 aspect ratio display. That means the display has the format of old TV screen, as opposed to the 16:9 Widescreen format of today’s TV sets or some monitors. Please keep that in mind when editing your footage and setting your format correctly (for example, 648 x 480 or 800 x 600).
Finally, in most cases, our clients keep the video on the short side – under a minute in most cases. The Video Business Card’s goal is to introduce and wow your potential client with this unique device. Such an introduction should be well-edited and creatively filmed, but not too long. For in-depth explainer videos, launch videos, engagement videos, brand videos, etc., consider the larger format of our Video Brochures.
With some video preparation, your Video Business Card will be the most effective and unique way to jump start a new business relationship, delivering a high return on investment and hopefully the best investment you have made.
